| What is a Commercial Driver License (CDL)? A CDL is a license that ensures that the individual possessing it has been evaluated under a uniform testing procedure and has displayed the basic knowledge and skills to operate commercial vehicles (i.e., trucks,tractor-trailers, and buses). Back to Top
| | When is a CDL required? A CDL is required if you operate any of the following:
Class A- A combination vehicle W/ a Gross Combined Weight Rating (GCWR) of 26,001 lbs. or more, with the towed unit in excess of 10,000 lbs.
Class B- A single vehicle with a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR)of 26,001 lbs. or more, and with a towed unit NOT in excess of 10,000 lbs.
Class C- Vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) less than 26,001, designed to transport 16 or more passengers, or placarded for hazardous materials. Back to Top
